Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous transformations echo through the shadows." The plot features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden cult.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an special katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
